Title : Achieving Optimality with Adaptive Schemes in Crowdsourcing
نویسنده
چکیده
Ab t t www. Adaptive schemes, where tasks are assigned based on the data collected thus far, are widely used in practical crowdsourcing systems to efficiently allocate the budget. However, existing theoretical analyses of crowdsourcing systems suggest that the gain of adaptive task assignments is minimal. To bridge this gap, we propose a new model for representing practical crowdsourcing systems, which strictly generalizes the popular Dawid-Skene model, and characterize the fundamental trade-off between budget and accuracy. We introduce a novel adaptive scheme that matches this and characterize the fundamental trade-off between budget and accuracy. Achieving budget-optimality with adaptive schemes in crowdsourcing
Crowdsourcing systems provide scalable and cost-effective human-powered solutions at marginal cost, for classification tasks where humans are significantly better than the machines. Although traditional approaches in aggregating crowdsourced labels have relied on the Dawid-Skene model, this fails to capture how some tasks are inherently more difficult than the others. Several generalizations ha...
متن کاملLearning to Scale Payments in Crowdsourcing with PropeRBoost
Motivating workers to provide significant effort has been recognized as an important issue in crowdsourcing. It is important not only to compensate worker effort, but also to discourage low-quality workers from participating. Several proper incentive schemes have been proposed for this purpose; they are either based on gold tasks or on peer consistency in individual tasks. As the rewards cannot...
متن کاملNew adaptive interpolation schemes for efficient meshbased motion estimation
Motion estimation and compensation is an essential part of existing video coding systems. The mesh-based motion estimation (MME) produces smoother motion field, better subjective quality (free from blocking artifacts), and higher peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) in many cases, especially at low bitrate video communications, compared to the conventional block matching algorithm (BMA). Howev...
متن کاملThroughput Optimal Network Coding and Scheduling in Wireless Networks
Recently, network coding (NC) emerged as a promising technology for significantly improving throughput and energy efficiency of wireless networks, even for unicast communication. Often, NC schemes are designed as an autonomous layer, independent of the underlying Phy and MAC capabilities and algorithms. Consequently, these schemes are greedy, in the sense that all opportunities of broadcasting ...
متن کاملOptimal Combined and Adaptive Protection of Active Distribution Networks Considering Different System Topologies Incorporating Optimal Selection of Standard Relay Curves
The change in the topology of active distribution networks (ADNs) is one of the essential challenges that might affect the protection schemes. The conventional protection schemes based on base topology result in some coordination constraint violations in other topologies due to the outage of upstream substations and distributed generation units. In this article, new combinational and adaptive p...
